Nishkantos and the Merry Men Part-II: The battle of Thermaliya

Having rid the forests of the Western Woods from the vicious packs of Werewolves, the warriors proceeded East looking for more adventures. Meanwhile, their fame spread throughout the nearby lands, fuelled by their recent conquests.

They traveled east for three days. On the fourth day, they reached the gates of Workshire city.

Some guards approached the warriors.

“Who are you”?

“We are warriors from the west. We are just passing by; We mean no harm to your people,” replied Sagaricus.

“Welcome, Warriors, we have heard of your adventures. But before resuming your journey, you need to get the permission to stay here from the Sherrif. That is the law” said the guard.

So, accompanied by three guards, the four warriors entered the town.

Workshire was unlike any other city they had ever seen. The city was littered with factories that housed gigantic machines on which the townsfolk worked tirelessly, manufacturing powerful weaponry that was exported to arm the armies of even the most distant lands of the realm.

The town’s sherrif, Sandikrates, already witness to the skill and courage of the warriors in the Western Woods, invited them to his offices in order to honour them on behalf of the city.

After a sumptuous feast, the warriors sat down with Sandikrates.

“So, warriors, where are you headed now? Off to another adventure perhaps?”

“We have travelled extensively throughout the Western realm. We gained knowledge and had many adventures; Now, we have decided to move East”, said Hershules.

“In that case, I would like to suggest an adventure right here, in these lands. Have you heard of a creature called Vawtymus?”

The four warriors looked at each other and shook their heads in the negative.

“I thought so. The Vawtymus is a Monstrous creature that troubles these lands. It is a tall, three- headed giant that wakes up every two years, and eats away hundreds of men besides destroying all our crops. It moves with the wind and is almost impossible to control. Many brave Knights came to slay it, but no man that ever encountered it, has lived to tell the tale.”

The four warriors listened with interest. Lured by the prospect of adventure, Pajax stood up and declared:

“We shall apprehend and get rid of this creature for your people!”

The other three nodded in agreement.

“Bravo, we finally have hope!” said Sandikrates, delighted at the prospect.

“So, where can we find this Vawtymus?”asked Nishkantos.

“The creature lives inside a cave in the mountains east of a village called Thermaliya. It is a six hour ride away from the city”, said Sandikrates.

The warriors rode towards Thermaliya. When they reached the village, they found it empty, except for warning signs scaring away any visitors.

Armed with deadly weapons in their hands, the warriors rode towards the mountains in search of the monster, but couldn’t find him anywhere. Just as they decided to return to Workshire, they found their path blocked by a thirty-feet tall three headed giant. The creature growled ferociously.

The warriors, sensing trouble, started attacking the creature with all their might. But they found that all their weapons and bullets simply bounced off the creature. Meanwhile, the creature trounced and hurled them around.

Severely wounded and clueless about what to do next, the warriors ran for their lives.

But this loss didn’t deter them in the least.

Nishkantos, an accomplished Weapons developer worked day and night in order to devise a way to kill the monster. Meanwhile, Sagaricus, Pajax and Hershules scourged the lands for information on the creature.
After six months of tireless work, the warriors had developed special swords and bullets, that could break through even the strongest of metals, by forging an alloy of the extremely rare metals Ansyus and Cafoda in the factories of Workshire.

Armed with these bullets, and vast experience and insight into the terrible creature, the warriors returned to Thermaliya and apprehended the monster.

They fired rounds after rounds of bullets at the monster before finally succeeding in breaking through its tough armour and wounding him severely.

Just when victory was near, a man, with a frightening moustache and a deadly smile on his face came out from within the cave.

He was Jaban, the Evil Warlord of the East.

“How dare you kill my dear pet, Vawtymus !”, thundered Jaban. (pronounced as Jabaan)

“His death shall be avenged, with death. ATTACK!”, shouted Jaban, and an army of thousands of men emerged from the cave and started towards the warriors.

Severely outnumbered, the warriors tried to put up a brave front but they were overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the assault.

Sensing their inevitable defeat, the warriors started retreating. While running away, they blocked the path to the cave by rolling down huge boulders to keep Jaban and his army at bay and away from harming nearby lands.

Sandikrates hailed the return of the warriors and welcomed them with much applause. A grand celebration was organised in the city that day.

Later, after celebrations,Sandikrates requested the warriors to pass on the information on how they killed the monster in order to help future generations face such threats.

The warriors worked through the day and compiled a Guide book on how to slay the monster, including the composition of the secret alloy and presented it to Sandikrates.

The next morning, when they woke up, Sandikrates was gone along with the Guide book.

A few days later, news started spreading that an acclaimed warrior from the North, Sandikrates had found a way to slay the dangerous creature Vawtymus...
